Ulf Gustafsson – Apgabala 2410 Gubernators 2017-2018
My name is Ulf Gustafsson and it’s for me a pleasure and privilege to act as your District governor this year 2017- 18.

My profession and education is agriculture. I have been working in developing the agriculture sector in Africa and Asia. I have had different positions in the seed sector in Sweden. In addition, I have during a couple of years worked as an area sales manager in the agricultural equipment business in Europe. The last 20 years I have also been farming on our farm Helleberga outside a small village, Klockrike, close to the town Linkoping.
I joined RC Borensberg 2001. I was the president 2007-2008 and have also had several positions in our club. I feel that I’m quite prepared for my role as District Governor, since I have passed GETS and the RI Assembly in San Diego. I have also participated in the Rotary International Convention in Seoul and Atlanta
Our RI President name is Ian H.S. Rieseley and his theme is “Rotary – Making a difference”. This is exactly what we are doing in our humanitarian projects all over the world. We do good but we never tell about it!
During my Governor year I’m going to put a focus on:
To support and strengthen our clubs
We need to recruit new younger members. Our constantly increasing average age is a threat. The gender balance in our clubs has also to be considered. We need to treat and take care of our existing members. We have to put together strategies for member recruitments. A well-functioning club is the best foundation for each and every Rotarian. Utilize the Family of Rotary – pay visits to other clubs, develop your network and strengthen your clubs with family activities. Planning of your club programs is most important! It must be interesting, meaningful and fun to be a Rotarian. Our Rotary Leadership Institute, RLI continuing its program in Linkoping and Kalmar and shall also start in Latvia.
Enhance Rotary’s public image and awareness
The surrounding world and our societies knows very little of what Rotary stands for and the humanitarian efforts made all over the world. It’s very important that we update our Webb pages and our accounts for social medias. Show your club activities and illustrate the effect of our projects both locally and all around the world. Show that Rotary – making a difference!
Increase our humanitarian
Rotary has put a focus on eradicating polio. The goal is no new cases this Rotary year and we have almost meet the target. In the district I want to highlight the NAFGEM Network Against Female Genital Mutilation to a Global Grant project to engage the whole district.
I’m looking very much forward to the individual meeting at my club visits. I’m also looking very much forward to, together with You, show: Rotary is making a difference!
